5 Space Companies Left Standing After COVID-19
Since the beginning of the year, the world has suffered a lot with the spread of COVID-19. The pandemic inevitably hit the space industry as well, for the sadness of many. Still, some companies are doing just fine and represent our future for space exploration. See below the top five companies that will make through the pandemic
1. SpaceX
Elon Musk has been on many headlines in the past years due to his success with SpaceX and Tesla Motors. SpaceX is the leader in the private space market. That happens because the company has come a long way and developed technology that makes launchings cheaper (only $2600) than those of competitors ($5000 on average).
Also, Musk wants to colonize Mars. His plan is going slowly but is undoubtedly going somewhere.
2. Lockheed Martin
Lockheed Martin has been active since 1995 and is specialized in making aircraft supplies. They make infrastructure and other things that are useful for the same purposes.
Most of the profits the company makes come from war. Back in 2013, the company was acknowledged as the biggest company in the military-industrial market. What the company produces in this area includes ballistic missiles and many other products in terms of aerial war machines.
3. Blue Origin
Blue Origin is the space company owned by Jeff Bezos. Unlike other space companies, Blue Origin’s goal is not to ship products, but to welcome space tourism. Although the pandemic makes this hard, the company has not suffered much.
The company developed a reusable triple spacecraft that should take tourists into space. Space tourism is not going to happen right now, but already there are customers in line for the service.
4. Firefly Aerospace
Firefly is a very new company compared to the others listed above. It was founded in 2014 and almost went bankrupt. Now it is recovering with the help of Max Polyakov.
The company has made launch improved vehicles by employing additive technologies. Aside from this, Max Polyakov is using the company to enhance the shape of his home country, Ukraine. The company already has an R&D center in the country in addition to a partnership with two universities there.
5. Aerojet Rocketdyne
In 2013 two companies named Aerojet and Rocketdyne merged to form this new one. They became almost the monopolist of fluid and solid-propellant rocket engines in the USA market.
The company makes plenty of engines in addition to creating systems for solar generators. In 2019, the company got elected by NASA to build and fabricate spacecraft for the Artemis program.
