Barratt London Celebrates Recycling Week with students from Hackbridge Primary

Pupils from Year 1 and Year 6 at Hackbridge Primary School learnt all about the importance of protecting our environment for this year’s Recycling Week, thanks to support from housebuilder Barratt London, which is behind the New Mill Quarter development in Wallington. The developer donated the recycled materials required for the school children to build their own toy houses. Once built, the children made the most of decorating using colouring pens and pencils.

This year’s Recycling Week took place from 21st – 27th September, with a motto of “together – we recycle” in recognition of the way the British public continued to recycle despite the challenges Covid-19 has presented this year.

Miss Trotman, the Eco and Gardening leader from Hackbridge Primary School, said: “The children really enjoyed building the houses and have learnt a lot about the ways certain materials can be reused when we recycle them. It’s always good to find fun ways of introducing these ideas to our students and we’re grateful to Barratt London for providing us with an activity that allowed the children to build their own castles and dolls houses.”

Pam Reardon, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt East London, comments: “At Barratt London we’re always keen to help and support our local communities in any way we can. Being conscious of what we are doing to help the environment is always at the forefront of our plans, and educating the future generations on this is just one of the many ways we can promote the importance of recycling and protecting the environment.”

New Mill Quarter will offer 479 new homes, ranging from one, two and three-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom houses, currently starting from £311,995.
