How to Find Affordable Airport Parking in the UK

It’s no secret that parking at the airport is a good way to rack up a hefty parking bill. If you’ve got a trip planned but no one to drop you off at your gate, you could be looking at an added expense to your holiday. But you don’t have to settle for expensive airport car parks. There’s a better way to guarantee yourself parking in London at an affordable rate.

Cheap UK Airport Parking

The last thing you want to do is have to skimp on the fun during your holiday getaway because you’ve got an expensive parking bill waiting for you when you return home. Sure, opting for rideshares is an option, but if you don’t live close to an airport, the Uber ride to and from the airport can really eat into that entertainment budget you’ve saved up.

A bit of creative thinking can leave you with a great game plan to guarantee yourself a parking spot so you save yourself the woes of a hefty airport parking bill.

  • Manchester Airport

If your trip starts by flying out of Manchester, you’ll want to consider booking private parking nearby. There are great options available in Altrincham, Bramhall and Wythenshawe with prices ranging from £4.80 to £6.60 per day. With a spot waiting for you close to the airport, you can confidently reach your gate with time to spare.

  • London Heathrow

Perhaps the busiest airport in the UK because of its prominent role in international travel, London Heathrow is back to its regularly scheduled programme as it resurrects from quieted travel plans during the lockdown.

Terminal 5 alone has a reputation for being intensely busy. If you’ve got plans to fly out of T5, you’ll want to consider renting a parking space in Horton, Staines or Colnbrook for around £6.00 a day

Even if you’re not flying out of Terminal 5, Heathrow parking has a way of raking up a big bill for those who choose airport parking. Opting for a private spot in West Drayton, Stanwell or Horton means paying as little as £5.40 per day. By reserving a spot in one of those nearby locations and booking a taxi to take you the rest of the way, it’s likely that you’ll still be paying less for parking than you would if you left your car at the Heathrow car park.

  • Gatwick Airport

Situated to the south of Central London, Gatwick Airport is another popular hub for travellers. There are quite a few car parks to choose from here, but keeping your car there for even a week could set you back £166.00 – needless to say, this is less than ideal.

Instead, consider reserving a private parking space in Crawley or Horley. These nearby neighbourhoods offer parking at as low of a cost as £5.40 per day. Now that’s more like it!

  • Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Smack dab in the centre of Liverpool, J.L.A. parking is cheaper than its sister-ports, but will still cost you a pretty £95 to park there. Instead, look into renting a spot for your car in Huyton or Hale, where you could pay as little as £3.60 to £5.40 per day

For a creative twist on parking, opting to book in nearby Victoria Park will put you a little bit further from John Lennon Airport, but will host beautiful views of Liverpool that could be considered part of your holiday – though you’ll be looking at daily parking costs around £9.60 per day.

With these parking tips carefully packed in your back pocket, you’ll be able to save yourself a pretty penny during your next holiday. As travel plans begin to pick up all over the UK, be sure to hold on to the government-recommended safety tips so that you and your fellow flyers can get the most out of a much needed getaway.
