Leading theatre tickets platform SeatPlan – located in Shoreditch – is celebrating its 10-year anniversary next week.
Founded in 2011, SeatPlan was established to help customers find the best seats for theatre and events across the UK. Theatregoers can use its interactive seating plans to browse thousands of reviews and photos of the view from different seats, all provided by real people.
SeatPlan sells tickets to theatregoers, using multiple ticket suppliers to provide customers with the best prices and availability. Users have uploaded 75,000 seat view photos since its launch and the site now has 175,000 customers to its name.
In celebration of its milestone anniversary, SeatPlan introduced an improved Rewards page, which now includes double points on the first 200 photos on each newly opened production or venue.
SeatPlan Rewards enables consumers to upload reviews of their seating arrangement when visiting a theatre, which they can trade for digital theatre vouchers. It has already given away £35k worth of vouchers to its users since the scheme began, with the most rewarded user receiving £370 in vouchers.
Under the updated anniversary scheme – for every review submitted- the first 200 photos can earn 100 rewards points for a seat view photo (this will decrease to 50 points for consumers after 200 has been reached).
Once you have earned enough points, Rewards points can be traded for the following:
· 750 points: £10 Encore Voucher
· 1000 points: £10 Theatre Token
· 1,500 points: $25 (US) TeleCharge Gift Card
SeatPlan’s tenth year has also brought with it further exciting developments:
· It launched new show pages this year with a seat view tool that allows users to see all photos from seat for the chosen show. Users can filter by section and row and get an impression of distance to stage quickly. Any seat they like can be booked
· SeatPlan finished upgrading all its London seating plans, they are now the most accurate available online
· The company can add more complex seat maps to the system (with lots of sections, curved rows, zoom functionality), delivering views of large-scale venue seating plans including The Coliseum and Gillian Lynne Theatre
· Maps per production are now ready for Life of Pi at Wyndham’s Theatre and Cabaret at The Playhouse Theatre
Speaking about SeatPlan’s ten years of success, CEO and Founder, Ben Jackson says:
“I am delighted SeatPlan has grown and thrived over ten years, even during the challenging circumstances the theatre industry faced over the past eighteen months.
“We want to thank all our customers for their loyalty and support and hope they can make use of our improved double points Rewards Scheme. Especially as theatres begin to increase the number of shows and performances again.
“I’m happy to see the industry start to return to its former glory and am looking forward to busy, exciting months ahead.”
