Getting a seat at the garden pub in the summer can be a challenge. Google trends data shows a 136% increase in searches for ‘best pub gardens’ in the UK, so it’s safe to say everyone will be out enjoying pints in the sun very soon.
To beat the crowds, you can put your own spin on a beer garden and create one yourself in the comfort of your home.
Luxury Gazebo and Garden Room Retailers, Crown Pavilions recently created a one-of-a-kind pub gazebo for Lord Alan Sugar, featuring a 200-year-old Irish bar.
To get a similar look, they are sharing some of their best tips on how to bring the pub into your own home, plus how to make it family-friendly.
Choose the perfect location
Your beer garden should ideally be set up on a level area. Traditionally, beer gardens aren’t set up on grass, and pubs often have their back gardens paved with gravel. However, if your garden is all lawn, you can try paving slabs in order to mark where your ‘pub’ will be located.
Getting the foundation right is a key aspect to consider if you want your garden pub to last in these weather conditions.
Seating and Arrangement
The sitting area of a beer garden is crucial, as you would ideally want to enjoy your pint surrounded by family and friends. British weather may not be best for spending your whole summer outdoors, so a more durable and weather-proof option is incorporating a gazebo or a garden room. You can extend the use of your beer garden by incorporating heating but this will mean running an armoured cable from your fuse box.
“We use over-head infrared heaters in our Luxury gazebos. In our view these are the quickest and most reliable way to heat your outdoor entertaining space. One mistake to avoid is purchasing an under powered heater. We recommend never going lower than a 3kW heater for any space and if it’s a larger space you will want to upgrade to at least one or two 6kW heaters”, says Luke Dejahang, CEO of Crown Pavilions.
Atmosphere
Nothing creates a cosier environment than adding some lights! Exterior lighting can instantly transform your back garden into a pub, giving that authentic beer garden atmosphere.
Get the whole family involved
Search data shows that we’re keen to get all the family involved. In fact, there has been an 800% increase in searches for ‘beer gardens with playgrounds’. However, many beer gardens aren’t equipped to keep children entertained.
By creating a unique space that your whole family can enjoy, you can avoid overcrowded places and make your own rules. A full-on playground may be fun but not as aesthetically pleasing. So instead, you can try making a tent. What kid doesn’t love camping? There are plenty of options available on the market, or you can have a DIY day and make it at home!
