A new retirement community on London Road in Bagshot has been named Violet Place in homage to the site’s history which dates back to the 1920’s when it went by the name The Violet Tearooms.
Currently under construction by McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, the Violet Place Retirement Living Plus development is a nod to the popular tea rooms which were owned by Constance Violet and Ernest Barnet.
The Violet Tearooms weren’t the first hospitality business to frequent the site, in fact the site in Bagshot has a long-standing history of playing home to hospitality businesses. Before the most recent fish and chip shop – Jacks, there were several other businesses at the site that proved incredibly popular with locals.
