Research undertaken by betting giants, 888 Sport, has asked Premier League fans to predict where their side will finish at the end of the season.
The 2022/23 season has now reached it’s half-way point, and it has been one which has already thrown up some surprise packages. With an unprecedented mid-season World Cup now out of the way, the focus is back on the clubs.
It has been a turbulent time at Stamford Bridge, with new owners, and a new Manager, as Graham Potter made the move from Brighton. Since then, it has not been smooth sailing for The Blues, and 888 Sport’s research found that only 32% of Chelsea fans back the club to finish in the top 4.
5th place was voted the most likely finish by Chelsea fans, with 21% of fans thinking they will narrowly miss out on the Champions League. A further 15% think 6th is more likely, while 10% believe Potter’s side will miss out on Europe entirely.
888 Sport also asked fans which position their club needs to strengthen in the January transfer window, and a whopping 57% of Chelsea fans believe that the addition of an attacker is essential. The fan’s wishes have without doubt been answered with the record breaking signing of Mykhailo Mudryk, and João Félix.
While it appears that Chelsea fans are slightly pessimistic of their chances this season, 56% of fans are backing Potter as the right man to take the club forward.
