Another Adele Cancellation?

Stardom is a powerful thing, especially when the person in question is famous for their music. This is because music is transformative – it is arguably humanity’s purest expression of creativity. When this is understood, it makes sense why some fans go crazy for their favourite artists, especially when they have the chance to see them live. Going to these live performances makes the artist feel tangible as they can be seen in person, a far cry from simply listening to their songs on Spotify or other streaming services. Given this context, it is understandable why so many fans were distraught after London-born Adele postponed her Las Vegas shows.

Last Friday, it emerged that Adele postponed her Las Vegas shows, which were previously announced in November. The message came out on social media via an Instagram video, where the star seemed overwhelmed by tears. Naturally, this makes sense considering that the postponement came just 24 hours before the opening night. Although one can sympathise with Adele, it is equally hard not to feel sorry for those loyal fans who had already travelled to Las Vegas to see Adele. They would have had to pay for this too – tickets, hotel costs and travel costs would have meant that this money was spent for nothing.

As it stands now, there are likely many Adele fans in Las Vegas who are feeling rightfully annoyed about the postponement. They would have had to take time off to come and see Adele, and now that her shows have been postponed, these fans are left with nothing to do but hope that the shows get a new schedule soon. However, Las Vegas is certainly the place to be stuck in as there is a variety of activities to do in the Nevadan city, such as gambling. However, those who prefer online casinos can always search for Curaçao casino sites, which typically allow players from different countries to access their favourite games.

The reasoning behind the postponement seems genuine at first glance. In the Instagram video, Adele said that half of her team has COVID, and delivery delays have also helped throw a spanner into the works. However, many people have argued that if things were this dire, it should have been apparent that the show wouldn’t be able to start at the allotted time days before. Fans have an issue with the fact that the postponement was short notice, and when monetary consequences are considered, this does make sense.

Of course, Adele is doing her best to remedy the situation. In the same video, she said that they are working hard on getting new dates, emphasising “I’m going to finish my show”. In addition to this, it has also been reported that fans have been receiving free drink tokens as a gesture of goodwill, though this does little for those who are underage and cannot drink. The fact that Adela has also cancelled her shows in the past does not paint the singer in a good light, and only time will tell whether she can swing public opinion back in her favour.
