Barratt London Celebrates Recycling Week with students from Frith Manor Primary School

Year 4 pupils at Frith Manor Primary School learnt all about the importance of protecting our environment for this year’s Recycling Week, thanks to support from local housebuilder Barratt London, which is behind the Millbrook Park development in Mill Hill.

The developer donated the recycled materials and kits required for the students to build their own toy houses. Throughout the following weeks in their Design Technology lessons, the children had fun building and decorating their houses. The houses created were Roman in style, to fit with the history topic the children have been studying.  Once built, the children decorated their houses with frescoes and mosaics, just like the Romans did.

This year’s Recycling Week took place 21st – 27th September, with a motto of “together – we recycle” in recognition of the way the British public continued to recycle despite the challenges Covid-19 has presented this year.

Ed McCoy, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt West London, comments: “At Barratt London we’re always keen to help and support our local communities in any way we can. Being conscious of what we are doing to help the environment is always in the forefront of our plans and educating the future generations on this is just one of the many ways we can promote the importance of recycling and protecting the environment.”

Rhodri Thomas, a Teacher from Frith Manor Primary School, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed building their houses and learnt about the ways materials can be reused when we recycle them. It’s always good to find engaging ways of introducing environmental awareness to our students and we’re grateful to Barratt London for providing us with an activity that helped us to do that.  We covered Design and Technology, Art, History as well as raising awareness of the environment all in one engaging project.”

A collection of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes are currently available at Millbrook Park, with prices starting from £419,000 and a 5% NHS deposit contribution scheme available.
