On Thursday 14th October, Councillor Muhammed Butt, Leader of the Council, joined housebuilder Barratt London and housing association Octavia to celebrate the ‘topping out’ of No.10 Watkin Road – Wembley’s most exciting new development. To mark this important milestone, Councillor Butt was invited to make the finishing touches to the concrete, signifying the progress that has been made on the site thus far.

Stephen Thompson, Barratt London Operations Director, said: “No.10 Watkin Road isn’t just about building new homes; it is part of a wider multi-billion-pound regeneration of the borough, which will help transform the heart of Wembley into one of London’s top lifestyle destinations.

“I’d like to thank Councillor Butt for joining us today to celebrate the progress which has been made on this development, and the contributions it is making to the community via improved bus routes and road networks, as well as affordable workspace for local businesses.

Octavia Development Director Dave Woods said: “Octavia is delighted to celebrate this very successful partnership with the London Borough of Brent and Barratt London and share this important stage towards the completion of 10 Watkin Road.

“The development includes 72 affordable Octavia homes, of which 39 will be for London Affordable Rent and 33 for low-cost shared ownership. The tenure mix and variety of one, two and three bedroom homes in this diverse community will help tackle inequality by providing opportunity for people on lower incomes to live in a good quality, affordable home in London.”

Ben Knight, Director at dMFK Architects, said: “The topping out of No. 10 Watkin Road is an exciting milestone for us as a practice and for the community that will benefit from the high-quality new homes the project delivers. We’re thrilled to be realising our contribution to the development of one of London’s most vibrant and exciting new quarters.”

When fully complete in Summer 2022, No.10 Watkin Road, designed by dMFK Architects will consist of a collection of 229 apartments rising to 24 storeys. Five rooftop podium gardens will give residents their own urban oasis, providing skyline views across West London. Homes at No.10 Watkin Road currently start from £429,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, with London help to Buy available, and two-bedroom apartments also available.
