On Wednesday 14th July, Newham Councillor Shaban Mohammed joined dignitaries from Barratt London andhousing association L&Q to celebrate the topping out of Raine House, the latest phase at the housebuilder’s New Market Place development on Pilgrims Way, East Ham. To mark this important milestone, Councillor Mohammed was invited to make the final finishing touches to the concrete on the roof of the development’s tallest building, signifying the progress that has been made on the site thus far.
Councillor Shaban Mohammed said: “The topping out of the new block at New Market Place is a key milestone in the completion of the development and its role in the regeneration of East Ham town centre.
“Built on the site of the old market hall, this location has always been significant to the people of East Ham. We’re working closely with Barratt London to ensure the development brings improvement and a range of new residents to the area, while still honouring the history of the site.”
Steve Thompson, Managing Director at Barratt London, commented: “New Market Place isn’t just about building new homes, it is an opportunity to reinvigorate the centre of East Ham, and to transform a currently under-utilised site into a vibrant development at the heart of the community.
“The development will not only provide 277 new homes to the area but will also bring a new lease of life to the East Ham Market Hall, with a large retail arcade to support local businesses and new high street stores, as well as a hub for cafes and restaurants.”
Jacqueline Esimaje-Heath, Director of Growth at L&Q said, “New Market Place is an important project, bringing – to the heart of East Ham – new homes, spaces for businesses and places for people to eat and socialise. We’re proud to be involved, and from late 2021 will be offering homes for shared ownership at the scheme, providing an exciting opportunity for first time buyers to get into the property ladder at this unique new development.”
Homes at New Market Place currently start from £323,995 for a studio apartment, with one, two and three-bedroom apartments also available.
