Barratt London Remembers WWI Heroes with Tommy Statue

Housebuilder Barratt London has partnered with the Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) to encourage residents across London to remember fallen soldiers from the First World War. The housebuilder has installed one of the RBLI’s iconic Tommy Club figures at each of its developments in the capital, including Ridgeway Views and Millbrook Park in Mill Hill and High Street Quarter in Hounslow.

The iconic full-size silhouettes of ‘Tommy’, the term used for a common soldier in the British Army, complete with a helmet and bayonet, were installed at the developments ahead of Victory in Europe Day celebrations on the 8th May. The figures will commemorate the lives of soldiers who fought in WWI, and thank the veterans of today.

Barratt London is the Tommy Club’s first corporate patron, supporting the charity with a donation of £100,000, and agreeing to purchase the figures for its developments across London. The funds raised have been used to provide jobs, homes, and mental health support for veterans across the UK.

Pam Reardon, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt East London said: “We are proud to give our very own ‘Tommy’ figures a home at our London developments, and are pleased to do our part to show our gratitude to Armed Forces veterans, many of whom live locally. We are always working to support active and former Service personnel, and hope that Tommy will help our residents and the local community to take a moment to commemorate those who served in the World Wars.”
