Cheshire Phoenix have announced Jalen Hayes will be returning for a second season with the Nix for the 2019/20 BBL Season.
The 6’7″ American forward joined the Phoenix in December and helped the team to the benecos BBL Play-Offs as well as qualifying for the British Basketball All-Stars tournament.
Hayes experienced a very productive rookie season averaging 14.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, whilst shooting 52% field goal and an impressive 46% from 3-point range during the regular season.
Coach Ben Thomas said: “I’m really happy that we’ve been able to secure another returnee for next year. I honestly believe that we haven’t seen the best of Jalen and in my opinion we will see a completely different player next season.
“For me it’s his versatility that really makes him stand out, he was the best 3-point shooting forward in the league and can dominate in the post.
“We wanted to bring back a core of players from this season and Jalen is just the latest addition to that. We definitely want to hit the ground running in September and have a great season.”
Hayes added: “Phoenix fans, I’m so excited to be coming back next season. I know we have a lot of talent coming back and I’m glad I am going to be a part of it!.
“I’m looking forward to build on this season and having an even better year this upcoming one. Let’s go Nix!”
Louis Sayers and Disraeli Lufadeju will also be returning to the team for next season.
