A BUSINESS born out of the frustration of lockdown and its founder’s reputation for impeccable taste is hoping to play a part in reducing the number of disappointing Valentine’s Day gifts this year.*
Gift atelier service, BoxGioia is the brainchild of Bee Bulut Ozan who believes if given a budget and some information about a loved one she can pick and send out the perfect gift for anyone and any occasion.
Bee said: “I have always been someone who takes great pride and delight in putting together a thoughtful gift box for friends with every item carefully sourced and placed together, so finding myself with time on my hands during lockdown – BoxGioia was born.
“A lot of people attach a huge significance to the gifts they give and receive on Valentine’s Day but at the same time they don’t know what to choose and often struggle in both new and also very established relationships.”
Bee believes whilst there is a theme to wedding anniversary years, which can help focus the giver, e.g the first is usually cotton or paper, fifth is wood and so on – there is nothing to guide Valentine’s Day giving and so people fall back on the same gift year after year leaving recipients disappointed.
Her bespoke gift boxes are selected and sent out to appeal to each individual and the contents have been carefully chosen and sourced.
And the service it is also a great way for anyone who is not in an established relationship on February 14 to treat themselves to something nice to celebrate who they are.
Bee said: “I remember reading an interview with the actor Emma Stone a while ago in which she said she did not see herself as single – but rather she was self -partnered which I think is great way of thinking about it. We should all be our own best friends and take care of ourselves so who not treat yourself to a Valentine’s Day gift to acknowledge you care about yourself and are worth it.”
Bee, who is London based, hopes the new focus many people have found as a result of the pandemic, will encourage them to support businesses like hers.
Bee said: “Valentine’s Day isn’t about spending lots of money it is about the thought that goes into a gift, and we know a lot of people struggle with that – especially men which means year after year they just buy flowers and chocolates – neither of which are gifts which last.
“I’ve even heard some couples dropped gift giving all together since they never like each other’s present so I cannot help but wonder how that affects their relationship.”
In addition to bespoke gifts put together with your lover in mind there are also options for people who just want to log onto the ecommerce site and purchase a tasteful and unique pre-curated box with values ranging from £39 to £149.
As well as offering an individual one off and repeating subscription gift boxes, BoxGioia also provides a corporate service to help businesses of all sizes who want to send presents to their staff or employees for any occasion.
