FASTSIGNS London Branches Go Extra Mile For Charity

Staff from sign and graphics specialist, FASTSIGNS, will be donning their sweatbands to take part in a week of sporting activities to raise money for The Simon Cooper Foundation.

As part of the nationwide ‘FASTSIGNS Goes the Extra Mile’ charity campaign, the centres in Kingston, Islington and Guildford will join the FASTSIGNS UK Support Centre and 15 other centres who have all pledged to walk, cycle or run a collective total of over 720 miles – the overall distance between all UK centres – during the course of the summer.

Working from the North to the South of the country, colleagues at each FASTSIGNS centre have one week to cover a total of at least 42.3 miles, with some centres pledging to do many more. Once each centre has completed its required distance, the challenge will pass to the next centre who will in turn have a week to complete the distance.

Mark Phelps, managing director at FASTSIGNS Kingston, said: “Charity work is something that is really important to us as a centre so it’s so great to be a part of this nationwide challenge. We’ve got a very busy week planned but we’re really looking forward to raising as much money as we can for a charity that has helped so many people in need.”

Launched by Simon Cooper, the son of the owners of the Enfield FASTSIGNS centre, Paul and Angela Cooper, the Simon Cooper Foundation provides support to patients living with Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis and life limiting conditions. Having suffered with both Cystic Fibrosis and cancer himself, Simon sadly passed away in July 2016 but his legacy lives on through the work the Foundation carries out across the country.

The Islington centre has already got a busy week planned for its week of activities, with four staff members taking part. Some have decided to ditch the bus for their daily commute in favour of walking, to help clock up the miles, while owner, Shahzad Ahmad, will be running each evening after work in the hopes of smashing his 10 mile target.

Shahzad, said: “Having had the pleasure of knowing Simon Cooper and his parents at the Enfield centre personally, I’m so pleased to be doing something to help such a fantastic cause. We’ve got a very busy week ahead, but myself and the team are looking forward to racking up those miles and raising as much money as possible for so many people in need.”

John Davies, Managing Director of FASTSIGNS UK, said: “The Simon Cooper Foundation is a charity that is very close to all our hearts here at FASTSIGNS UK so it’s fantastic that we’re able to do something special for such a worthy cause. We have such a fantastic network of UK centres so it’s great to see them all coming together to help raise some much-needed funds.”
