Following on from the success of last weekend’s Jazz Brunch, the second event of Barratt London’s Festival of Culture is due to take place on Sunday 15th November at 11am. The next instalment in the series of bi-weekly virtual events livestreamed from the housebuilder’s Ridgeway Views development, is an art class hosted by local artist Dawn Limbert.
Artist Dawn will lead viewers in a landscape masterclass where they will use pastels to create a picture of the Totteridge Valley, the incredible landscape which can be seen from Ridgeway Views. She is part of the North London art group Studio Frqidays, who have held many successful solo and group shows in the past, with many of their artists having been selected for major exhibitions at the Royal Academy, Bankside Gallery and Mall Galleries. After the class, Dawn’s completed landscape will be put up for auction to raise money for a local charity.
Dawn Limbert, landscape artist, comments: “I find art such a beautiful way to relax, and in a year when people’s mental health has really been tested I am thankful to be able to provide an opportunity for people to be creative and express themselves.”
Those who wish to take part in the masterclass will need a half stick set of Inscribe pastels, a Clairefontaine pastel mat or Canson MiTientes touch pastel paper, and masking tape. All of which are easily available to purchase from Amazon or other online art shops.
Other livestream events at the Festival of Culture will include:
- A cookery class with a lan Samuels, who competed on the 2018 series of MasterChef: The Professionals, on 29th November at 11am
- A carol concert with members of London youth choir Invicta Voices on 13th December at 11am
Pam Reardon, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt East London, said: “Our Festival of Culture has been organised to spread a bit of joy in the lead up to Christmas. In a time when we would all usually be out shopping for presents or spending time with our families, we hope these events provide some entertainment for viewers while they remain safely indoors.”
Take part in the art class live on Barratt London’s Facebook page, YouTube channel or Instagram feed, or watch the video and join in at your own pace later on.
