Samsung subsidiary HARMAN has created developer hub dedicated to the Android Automotive developer community. The aim is to make it easier to develop and certify apps that could be used in the car.
Through the Developers Portal, those developing to the Android Automotive open operating system can deploy automotive apps, which car makers can then easily scale and manage with their customers.
The new portal helps developers to get started and supplies toolkits, technical documentation, APIs, and access to HARMAN’s network of OEMs and ultimately more users.
According to HARMAN, consumers will benefit from a connected automotive experience that is rich and dynamic, but also optimised to be easily accessible in the vehicle.
“With our Developers Portal, Android developers can more easily engage their target audience, OEMs have a streamlined way to drive new experience opportunities around their brands, and consumers can enjoy enhanced Experiences Per Mile in their vehicles through access to their favourite content,” added Raghunathan.
Whilst it offers access for developers, automotive manufacturers will still retain full control over how apps are implemented in their vehicles, helping to maintain safety.
