Founded in 2015 by husband and wife duo Kyle and Kelly, with the help of a carefully curated selection of professional trainers, nutritionists and therapists, KIN perfectly encapsulates the wants and needs of the modern consumer by providing them with a natural, simple, and effective product.
With sustainability and nutrition at the heart of the brand, KIN’s ingredients are not only 100% natural and kind to your body with no unnecessary ingredients, but are also locally sourced from smaller communities, putting money back into both the companies and consumers pocket but also helping the local economy.
In May 2018, KIN introduced their 100% recyclable protein tubs and supplement pots. KIN’s recyclable protein tubs, made in their UK factory are robust, reusable and come complete with a screw top lid to maintain freshness and prolong the life of your protein.
Their iconic design is made from BPA free plastic surrounded by cardboard, which is now being sourced locally saving over 473 miles of carbon emissions, and allows the inside to be protected from direct sunlight, which has been proven to release harmful chemicals into the contents. Their KIN branded shakers are also BPA, phthalate free and constructed of odor-resistant Eastman Tritan™which is the highest rated composite plastic available in the world.
Shortly after, KIN introduced their #REFILLTOREFUEL packs. Refill packs are more economical and more affordable than tubs, allowing their customers to save money and the world at the same time and these are also 100% recyclable and made from 55% biodegradable kraft paper. When you order KIN, it is boxed with 100% biodegradable cardboard and next day delivery is now offered as standard to lower road time and carbon emissions across the UK. While also partnering with a low emissions courier to ensure they are making the biggest impact on their environmental changes as possible.
This means that KIN Nutrition is 80% more sustainable than similar food and drink products currently on the market. “Why buy a protein, that is going to cost and harm the earth?” KIN founder Kyle Maslen comments. “We are extending our commitment to protecting the environment further than just reducing single-use plastic” he continues. “We plan to implement various eco-friendly practices across our whole supply chain by reducing air miles and oil usage used during transportation and sourcing our ingredients and packaging in ways that positively impact the environment.”
“And our retreats are next!” co-founder and partner Kelly Maslen adds, whose 7-year corporate background helps her support guests who are experiencing the challenges from high-pressure jobs, as well as implementing her yoga background into their luxury Ibiza yoga retreats.
“One of the next sustainability goals for KIN is to make our retreats plastic free – saving over 1,000 plastic cups, straws and lids over a single retreat season. We have already implemented these changes with immediate effect to our Ibiza retreats this September.”
