Fraport AG uses the SOTI ONE Platform to manage mobile devices across the business, handling over 120,000 pieces of luggage each day for over 69.5 million passengers per year One of the leading players in the global airport business, Fraport AG’s portfolio of companies spans four continents with activities at 30 airports worldwide. In Europe, Frankfurt Airport ranks first in cargo tonnage and is the fourth busiest airport for passenger traffic. For the past 12 years, Fraport AG has used smartphones and tablets across seven of its key departments, including staff transport and luggage handling. The SOTI ONE Platform is critical in supporting Fraport AG’s ground handling services, who manage over 120,000 items of luggage each day for over 69.5 million passengers per year. With thousands of mobile devices from various manufacturers across multiple operating systems, Fraport AG relies on industry leading SOTI MobiControl, a critical component of the SOTI ONE Platform, to help their business-critical mobility strategy take flight. “As a forward-thinking organisation, we wanted to give our staff modern tools that would enable them to provide the first-class service that our customers are used to,” said Maximilian Rassmann-Gabriel, Logistics and Project Manager at Fraport AG. “We needed to remove old infrastructure and introduce a new device fleet. Without the easy-to-use, scalable and reliable features of SOTI MobiControl, this would have not been possible. We are certain, that in the years to come and as we grow as an organisation, SOTI will help us secure the future success of our company.” Delivering increases in efficiency, reducing environmental impact One area Fraport AG uses SOTI MobiControl for is baggage handling. Using Zebra scanners, managed by SOTI MobiControl, Fraport AG can ensure that luggage is ready and on-time for time-sensitive passenger operations. For ground handling, the use of SOTI MobiControl means Fraport AG can optimise the planning, communication and location of the shuttle buses used by the ground control team. In the past, shuttle drivers were told via radio that a delivery shuttle was needed, meaning that all drivers would rush to their vehicles. With SOTI MobiControl, Fraport AG can communicate with the driver who is closest to the location to tell them that they need to pick up ground handling staff. This has resulted in a huge increase in the efficiency and speed of transporting staff, as well as saving fuel. “We are delighted to see how Fraport AG has used SOTI MobiControl to improve efficiencies and reduce its environmental impact. Fraport AG is a great example of how an enterprise should be using the SOTI ONE Platform to drive operational success, and save time and money,” adds Stefan Mennecke, Vice President Sales Central Europe at SOTI. Limiting downtime and protecting company data Fraport AG chose SOTI MobiControl due to the competitive price to performance ratio, as well as the extensive consultation and support before and during the implementation. Notes to editors: The advantages of SOTI MobiControl for Fraport: • Through the seamless and scalable technology of SOTI MobiControl, Fraport sets up all smartphones and tablets across manufacturers and versions, with the required approval and restriction requirements, and records the devices with the apps intended for the respective user or user group. • Version and security updates can be applied at any time, regardless of location, ensuring system security at all times. • The security of data is improved: owned data is protected, and compliance is ensured by constant monitoring. • Fraport gains insight into the use of their devices and can further optimize processes. Regardless of the area in which the devices are used for flight logistics, it is important for Fraport that the downtimes of the terminals are kept to a minimum. Because delays in ground handling have a direct impact on the timetables. • Replacing wireless technology with mobile devices eliminates the high cost of maintaining the wireless infrastructure. SOTI MobiControl enables Fraport to cost-effectively service the next generation of devices.
